South Beach - Week Two

It's hard to believe that Week Two of the Blogger Butt Smackdown is underway! The response to this challenge has been overwhelming, and I am still working on a sidebar to track our collective progress. In the meantime, be sure to check out the sites of the other participants who leave comments. I KNOW they would love to hear from you:) We need all of the support we can get!
*

I have enjoyed reading about what each person is doing to combat the fat. I believe that our group covers the full spectrum of weight loss options. Some are exercising, others are just focusing on eating healthy foods. Some are following a specific diet plan, others are trying to eat smaller portions and make better choices. We even have some skinny people (don't hate) who couldn't care less about dieting, but are leaving supportive comments. You guys ROCK!
*

As you know, I chose the South Beach Diet Plan. I am still in Phase One, and have had a few slip-ups. I have discovered that the single most important thing for me is having "legal" food in my refrigerator at all times. That leaves me NO REASON to eat something that isn't on the plan. I enjoy the food, and have felt neither hungry nor deprived. Being held accountable to YOU has also helped me stay on track, for the most part!
*

One thing that I discovered years ago is that I cannot lose weight without exercising. I've committed to going to the gym every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday - OR, at least three times per week. Last week, I exercised for 30 minutes each time, and plan to increase that to 45 minutes this week. The next step will be to start attending classes again. (I LOVE Pilates!)
*

My total weight loss for the week is THREE POUNDS! I couldn't be happier:) Despite my weekend transgressions, I. Lost. Weight. YAY!
*

It appears that EVERYONE has made progress this week. THAT is good news! Keep up the good work - We'll all be back in our skinny clothes before you know it!!!!

Congrats on your weight loss!! I lost 2 pounds - yippee!!

All the rage around here is Zumba. So I am going to try that tonight!

Another wonderful thing - our gym has set up a program called Battle of the Bulge. You sit down with a trainer and talk about what your goals are and he lays out a program for you to follow to reach those goals. I am meeting with him tonight! And it's a free service from the gym!

Awesome! Congrats. I've got to get back to working out but so far I am still really good at making excuses.

Go girl! I'm getting back in my walking routine~Going to go get my exercise bike from Mr T's~that will help on the rainy days!

I'm down 2 lbs but that could have come from the fall I took from the wagon!

Congrats! That is wonderful - it sounds like you're working hard at it. Yay you!

I'm trying to eat healthy with nothing really off limits. I'm always surprised at how *good* I feel when I eat more fresh stuff, more veggies, more whole grains. You'd think you'd remember something like that.

Congratulations! I am very proud of you. Now, remember to do both butt squeezes and Keigles at every stop light you come too (alternating of course)! I like to sing a little song while doing this, Baby got back seems to work very well for me!!

Keep it up Sista!

Woo hoo for BHE! I am really proud of you and everyone else here. This is really helping me for the first time in a very long time!!! I like that we have accountability and support from each other...but even if we fall there is still a lot of love.

I am going to post tonight about my update. I wish I had taken before photos...maybe I can find some.

This whole idea is probably saving my life.

OK, OK - I'll talk, just please stop the torture. I admit it - I just ate at La Fuente. I am so ashamed......

Congratulations on your weight loss. And a big thank you for doing this. You are holding my feet to the fire, and I needed that.

One pound here, and that's what I deserve from the bad choices I made. I'm literally on my feet ALL day chasing a hyper girl around...that's my exercise for now, however I love going to the gym and hoping to arrange that in the future! Congrats on all the losers and thanks to the others for support...we need all the cheering we can get!
Taking it one meal at a time. :)

I've managed to lose 6 pounds from being sick with an un-named virus that I've had since late November. I don't suggest this as a good dieting tip...but it sure made it easy to pass up all of the holiday goodies. I'm feeling much better these days and I hope I can keep from gaining back what I've lost.

Way to go! 3 pounds is GREAT. And you had Cool Breeze's birthday to celebrate in there too....fantastic job.

I'm rooting for you on the sidelines - go girl!

Now what about us fatso's who are not making an effort at all but are raising our Hershey Bars up to you and saying, "YOU ROCK!"

Huh? What about US? ;-)

Way to go BHE!!! I love this idea, it has held me to the goals I have made for myself:)
As you stated, I am not missing any of my extra snacking, okay maybe the chocolate and reeses but I still haven't given in. Poor Peepers so wanted to go down the candy isle and I had to tell her NO, mommy is too weak.

You go ladies! I like Predo's suggestion of doing butt squeezes at stop lights. ANYTHING SSG can do sitting down? She is ON IT.

I am so proud of you!!!! Seriously, this makes me smile. You have a wonderful attitude to boot. So you go girl! I want you to know, I was doing that finger wag and head shaking thing as I said that.

I've been remiss in getting into gear and doing something, because truthfully, so much is going on that I haven't been paying attention. But I'm going to sit back and revel in your sucess, and that of everyone else until I get it together enough to join in!

Way to go BHE!

I fell off the diet wagon.... then I ripped the wheels off of it, burned them and threw the ashs in a deep hole and filled it up with dirt.... I CANT DIET. I have been using a smaller plate though for the last week and only putting what really looks good on it - it has helped. BUT, when I have to make SO MUCH FOOD all the time - its hard to banish certain things. They need all those calories just to keep warm right now!!! lOL GOod job you guys and keep up the great work. I will be wearing a penquin suit to the beach this summer... LOL
