Battle Of The Shopping Lists

It's time for another episode of "What Would Martha Do?" over at OK, Where Was I?

I need to pause for a commercial break, and send out a BIG THANK YOU to Jenn over at A Country Girl's Ramblings for teaching me how to link to other sites on my posts :) Thanks Jenn!

Welcome back to the show. In the July 2008 edition of Martha Stewart Living, there is a photo of Martha's shopping list. Page 10. I would never have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.

Is she for real?

Martha's List: Hand painted, Eco-friendly, bound journal with 100% recycled paper $45.00; Luxurious designer pen that will write upside down and in three languages $75.00; Decorative herbs special ordered from the Orient $22.00; Useless crap on her list $Not worth the paper it's written on.

Let's take a peek at MY grocery list, shall we?

My List: Scrap paper found in the bottom of the kitchen junk drawer $Free; Designer pen handed out by the Wal-Mart greeter (it came with a smiley face sticker) $Free; Decorative Equal packets and Crystal Light lemonade packs $Not free, but available at Food Lion; Sensible items on my list $Priceless.

OK, I've shown you mine, now you show me yours. Or at least tell me about it. What does YOUR shopping list look like?

Mine are usually on the back of an envelope from the mail or any piece of paper that I can rip off and write as much on it as possible....The problem is I get to the store and usually leave it in the car.

OH OH OH! I don't know anybody that doesn't have a working list of crap to pick up the next time they go out! With gas this expensive, you can't just cut out every time you need something. Here's mine from yesterday, as I already got it all:
Hamburger seasoning
funky ligh bulb for tracklight
several bags of decomposed granite from Home Depot for gigantic hole in yard by driveway where teen keeps driving off of it instead of TURNING THE WHEEL.
eggs
OJ
cat food

Often my list is on the back of an envelope. My counter is quite cluttered... and my pen typically is running out of ink. Martha would be disappointed... I'm just happy to remember to bring the list with me!

I make a list and then leave it on the kitchen counter. So I have to rely on my super-power - the (in)ability to remember anything on the list! But somehow I can't seem to get out of the store for under $50!!

Brilliant to bring in the real Martha. Yeah, my kids would love it if that were my list. What a scrumptious meal. I have (and love) the pink lemonade crystal light.

Before I forget, I would love those instructions for linking or at least tell me where I can go to read them. I have no idea how to do it either, and it is pretty sad.

My list? I usually write it with a crayon on the back of an overdue bill. Then, I forget to pay the bill and never refer to the list in the store. Because I've forgotten I have one.

Middle age really sucks sometimes.

SSG does not do lists. Instead, she drives to the market for a couple of items. Proceeds to cruise the aisles until her basket is filled up. Then, she drives home, unpacks her bags and realizes she forgot the two items she originally went to the market for.

Hmmm ... perhaps you could tell her more about these "list" thingies.
