Destination Unknown

Early tomorrow morning, I will be leaving the comforts of home and venturing into the unknown. The call came after 9:00 last night - are you ready to go? Yes. I'm ready.

The Virginia Baptist Feeding Unit will mobilize west of Atlanta tomorrow night, and wait to find out where we are needed once Hurricane Gustav makes landfall.

This will be my second trip to the Gulf Coast to assist with disaster relief; however, it will be my first time with the First Response Team. I hope I am strong enough for this - inside AND out.

My nerves are starting to fray.........there is so much to do at home and at work before I leave. I hope I haven't forgotten anything. If I did, it will just have to wait.

Keep our team in your thoughts and prayers. I'll be back in a couple of weeks, and I'm sure I will have a lot to share.

BTW - Leave me TONS of messages on this post so I can enjoy them when I return!! Thanks:)

I so admire you and the other people on your team for running to the rescue...dropping your own life to help others. Very cool! I'll keep you and those in the path of Gustov in my prayers. Take care!

You're doing an extremely good thing by going. I know you and those you encounter will be blessed by your willingness to serve others.

It is not an easy job you have ahead of you. Thanks to you and all the volunteers who will lend a hand in the months to come.

Okay, looks like my first comment didn't post.

I really admire you for being able to help in situations like this. I know from our own local disaster in 2003 (wildfires) that I'm not cut out for it.

You are a very kind and generous person to be heading out to help a second time. Be well while you're there, and know that you are an amazing example to the rest of us.

I admire your courage for being willing to do something like this. I know several people that have made several aide trips for Katrina victims - one was a first responder! All have been greatly effected by each trip. Be strong. Be safe. And know that you are in our prayers!

Wow! I am sooo proud of YOU! That is awesome and I hope you get back sooner than two weeks. Hopefully, since the news is downplaying the damage they will get it all back together with electricity and cleaned up sooner rather than later.

That is wonderful! I am curious how you got involved with that group and what training do you have to go through?

Good for you for being able and willing to help out. I hope there isn't a lot of work for you to do, because that would mean there are lots of people in need.

Can't wait to hear from you when you return.

What an awesome calling you have answered! We all want to help but few of us actually make it into the "trenches". I am in awe of your committment. You will be in my prayers, although it will make me giggle everytime I ask God to watch over BigHairEnvy! :) I'm sure he'll know exactly of whom I speak!!
