Apple. Tree.

Well, my baby girl has come to the dark side. Please head over and give her some bloggy love!

I guess this is my clue to get back on here and actually POST something once in a while!!! I miss visiting with the people who live in my computer:/

Bricks

On a recent work-related visit to a teeny, tiny little town in the middle of nowhere, I stumbled upon this pile of old bricks. The house (a portion of which is shown in the top right corner) had burned, and these beauties were salvaged from the wreckage.

I couldn't help but wonder where these bricks would eventually end up. What would they be in their next life? My imagination went WILD with the possibilities! Personally, I would be willing to give them a nice home, and lovingly care for them. Unfortunately, no one offered to hand them over!!

What would you do with these bricks? I'm really hoping that my friend the Vinyl Villager responds to this question...he always has the BEST ideas:)

The temperature is hovering in the mid-seventies today. It gives me hope that spring is near. It's been a long, hard winter, and this chick is SO ready to get outside and play in the dirt!!!

19

Nineteen years ago today, I gave birth to an amazing little bundle of joy. She has been my sunshine since the moment I first saw her!

I've watched her learn to walk, and learn to drive. I've seen her dress like a princess, and sing like a bird. I've wiped her tears, and picked up pieces of her broken heart. I've worried, prayed, cheered, scolded, clapped, laughed, and worried some more. She made my life complete.

This is the first time that I have not been with her on her birthday. It's sad, but I take comfort in the fact that she is moving on to bigger and better things. She is once again learning to walk....this time, on her own.

Happy 19th Birthday, Snow White! You are the light of my life!

Red Doors

I started a new job in December, and one of my favorite assigned tasks is to visit an old property to determine if it's a candidate for revitalization. These doors belong to the beautiful Oak Grove Elementary School in Westmoreland County.

I don't know if she'll ever make the cut...

...but, as with most things in life, time will tell.

Thinking of my beloved grandmother on her birthday. She would have been 99. Happy Birthday, Grandma! You are loved and missed.

Friends

As soon as Noe Noe Girl posts photos to Facebook, I will try to update this post with a visual. Until then, you will just have to take my word for it....I have the best (and cutest) friends EVER!!

Last night, Noe Noe, Chesapeake Bay Woman, and a host of other characters stopped by for a bit of socializing before we headed out to hear a local band. The words live, laugh, love spring to mind when I try to think of ways to describe this group. We are all living our lives one day at a time, and trying not to take ourselves too seriously. We all crave the craziness that ensues when old friends gather, and wine is consumed;) And, I love them all as if they were my family. In many ways, they ARE family! (Names have been changed to protect the guilty.)

Today I am most thankful for good friends, good music, good food and good times. Life. Is. Good:)

Neglect

Neglect. Well, that sums up my life since I last posted...over a month ago:/ I neglected to acknowledge my 300th post (this is number 302), I've neglected the house and the laundry, I've neglected my dog (who needs a good brushing), I've neglected to make a Christmas list, much less begin Christmas shopping, and I've neglected my need for sleep. Oh, and did I mention that I've neglected to worry about ANY of these things? Talk about feeling out of sorts...

There ARE some things that I HAVE done...I've cut my hair, I've started a new job and I've packed my lunch every. single. day. Hmmmmm, not sure who is even reading at this point, but I'm going to make an earnest effort to get this blog up and going again. I'd hate to be banned from Blog Fest because, well, I no longer appear to be a bonafide blogger!!

Snow White comes home from college Tuesday. She will be home for almost a month. I'm hoping to become reacquainted with my daughter, as well as my groove, during the next few weeks. Any words of wisdom you wish to share would be greatly appreciated. Most days, I'm not sure whether I'm coming or going. One thing of which I am sure is that I am thankful to all of you for your ongoing support. I don't know where I'd be without you in my life!

I'm going to get up out of my pity pile now. Putting on the big girl panties, and moving right along!!! Please send the Christmas Spirit my way...I need a few moments of His time:)

For The Wordies: Part I

With credit to my Uncle R for sending this to me, and to Sandra L for sending it to him....ENJOY!

"For all you word-smithees.

The Washington Post's Mensa Invitational once again invited readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter, and supply a new definition.

Here are the winners:

1. Cashtration (n.): The act of buying a house, which renders the subject financially impotent for an indefinite period of time.

2. Ignoranus: A person who's both stupid and an a$$hole.

3. Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with.

4. Reintarnation: Coming back to life as a hillbilly.

5. Bozone (n.): The substance surrounding stupid people that stops bright ideas from penetrating. The bozone layer, unfortunately, shows little sign of breaking down in the near future.

6. Giraffiti: Vandalism spray-painted very, very high.

7. Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn't get it.

8. Inoculatte: To take coffee intravenously when you are running late.

9. Osteopornosis: A degenerate disease. (This one got extra credit.)

10. Karmageddon: It's like, when everybody is sending off all these really bad vibes, right? And the, like, the Earth explodes and it's like, a serious bummer.

11. Decafalon (n.): The grueling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you.

12. Glibido: All talk and no action.

13. Dopeler Effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly.

14. Aracnoleptic Fit (n.): The frantic dance performed just after you've accidentally walked through a spider web.

15. Beelzebug (n.): Satan in the form of a mosquito that gets into your bedroom at three in the morning and cannot be cast out.

16. Caterpallor (n.): The color you turn after finding half a worm in the fruit you're eating."

Which one of these is your favorite? I'll post Part II tomorrow!
