Prom 1983

OK. Stop laughing.

The year was 1983. Michael Jackson and The Police were at the top of the charts. The Surveyor and I were about to celebrate one year of dating. (We actually broke up the week before prom, but that's another story for another time.) He was a senior, I was a junior. The theme was "On the Wings of Love" - Jeffrey Osborne. High-fives to all who remember that song!!

Aren't we hot? I think it's pretty obvious that big hair would never be in my future. Unless it was chemically induced. I chose the double french braid with the wispy bangs. It was really my ONLY option. The Surveyor, on the other hand, had the hair that dreams are made of! Still does. At least I had the super cool Gunne Sax dress. It's always been my favorite!

You've laughed at my photo long enough. Slide on over to the "Sincerely Fro' Me to You" carnival at http://www.wearethatfamily.com/search/label/'Fro and laugh at someone else's pictures for a while. Sorry about copying and pasting the link. I'm still trying to figure out how to link these darn things. Please forgive me.

My hubby has got the wavy hair too. Check out his hair here, but only if you've recently emptied your bladder: http://anapronaday.blogspot.com/2008/02/bandanas-britches-what-vintage-aprons.html

You were smart to participate in this meme. The punishment for not participating is brutal: http://anapronaday.blogspot.com/2008/06/throw-her-in-stocks.html

Okay, was your blog created to participate in my carnival or what? I love it! And I love your photo. I always wanted a spiral perm, I just got stuck with the cheap dollar store variety. And often.

Thanks for participating!

You look adorable.

Ok, so were they snowflakes or stars on the backdrop? I need to know the answer to this for my day to run smoothly.

HC #2 - Those were stars. At least they were supposed to be!! I went to a VERY small school, and we didn't have much of a prom budget :( Funny how the fake clouds and the stars were so awesome back then. Now, not so much.

I really appreciate all of you taking a moment to stop by. The 'Fro Me to You carnival gave me the courage to start this blog in the first place. I realized that I had SO MUCH to contribute. Don't judge. Thanks We Are THAT Family! Hahahaha!

For some reason I cant get the song "billy jean is not my lover" out of my head.... wonder why?!

Oh the fluffy clouds!! I think you looked very pretty, and big hair would have taken away from the dress, which was very cool.

That pic brought back many ugly memories - I had the curse of flat-as-a-board hair in the day of bigger-is-better. No amount of perming could make my hair reach the heights it needed to!!

i was so enthralled with that incredible "corsage" you were holding that i didn't notice your hair.

sitting here singing "on the wings of love" and probably will be the rest of the day! thanks for the flashback.

Two thumbs up for the prom decorators, I totally thought you were standing in the clouds! :-)

Love the dress, bangs and tux. Great photo.

Fabulous hair and dress. I like how your blog is becoming the place where all of us without big hair can finally let it out and see that we weren't alone, even though it sure felt that way!

Hahahaha! I'm feelin' the love from my fellow '80's hair rejects! (Hmm. That sounds like a band.)

It's becoming evident that I need to organize some sort of weekly conference call. ("HI, I'm BHE, and I have straight hair." "Hi, BHE") It's cheaper than therapy. Raise your hand if you're in. I thought so :)
