This picture was taken on the back steps of our grandparent's house. Middle Sis was about a year old. The following Easter, she performed her first amazing feat - she rummaged through her Easter basket and managed to shove six marshmallow Peeps into her mouth at once! We have the video to prove it. She looked good in drool. Speaking of Easter, here we are dressed up and ready to go to church Easter morning. I was probably jealous because I didn't get to wear a bonnet and she did. We were both really good at twisting our feet. I think it helped us break-in those new patent leather Mary Janes! They were THE BOMB!
Middle Sis has always looked good in a bikini. Even at 40, she can put others to shame - including me! I should hate her for that, but I don't.
This is a photo of all three of us with our PaPa. Middle Sis was always a snuggler! It's likely that Grandma made our dresses. She would let us pick out our own buttons and trim when she made us a dress. We loved it!
Middle Sis even took cute school pictures. I could always count on my eyes being half closed!
When we were teenagers, I liked her enough to encourage her to go to my Junior Prom with a boy in my class. The Surveyor and I double dated with them. What a FUN night that was!!! Can you hear those dresses screaming "IT WAS THE EIGHTIES"??
Speaking of the eighties, Middle Sis ROCKED the big hair....and the sassy jean mini skirt!
This last photo was taken several years ago at one of our favorite restaurants. We were celebrating both of my sisters' birthdays - they always get stuck with a combined celebration because their birthdays are so close together. Bummer. Middle Sis is on the right. I am the one in the middle with the green balloon reflection on my face. Nice! Just like the Easter bonnet, I was jealous because they got to wear tiaras and I did not.
I hope you have enjoyed our little trip down memory lane. In closing, I would like to sing a song to Middle Sis. It's a heartwarming diddy from our childhood. Pardon my voice...

So cute! Love the mary jane shot, why did we always stand like that on the sides of our feet? Happy Birthday Middle Sis!
Well happy 40th middle sis. And you do kind of smell like a monkey...oh wait...that's Ozzie I caught wind of...I'm sure you smell fine!
What a wonderful tribute to your sister. Sisters rock don't they!
Happy b-day, middle sis. Your parents surely made a mighty fine genetic connection with you three beauties!
Being an only child- I am jealous. I have always wanted a sister. :)

Yeah, why is it we always stood on the sides of our shoes back then...it would drive my mother crazy and she would dig out the shoe polish and rag to get the scuff marks off.
Happy Birthday middle sis! What great picures, and boy were you guys cute....and still are.
I put that little monkey birthday jingle on a blog once and the next time I tried to log in I was denied access. Who would have thought that was offensive? Not me!
I love this...I hope she has a fantastic birthday. What a great sister you are....maybe you will get a tiara next year???
Love the easter dresses, I had the same looking outfits and shoes.
You are so blessed to have 2 sisters. Enjoy!!!
Poor Grandma J, she got a bum rap on the monkey song. I love it!!
Happy Birthday Middle Sis! Aren't sisters great??
What a great post! Happy birthday, Middle Sis! Sisters rock.
Loved the jr. prom photo... takes me back!
Happy Birthday, Middle Sis. Turning 40 is not that bad, but I hear 50 is when it all goes to he$$ in a handbasket.
BHE - I think there's one last soccer tournament but basketball season we'll be traveling up to ACDS for sure, just no schedule yet. I'll holler at ya when I know when those games will be.
(YOu can hear me if I holler, right? Otherwise, I've got to climb up a telephone pole to make a call.)
I LOVED these pictures, by the way. And your commentary is hilarious.
Happy Birthday Middle Sis! I like to think of myself as an honorary member of the family, so your birthday present will be LATE ... just like my family's birthday presents always are.
You know how much I love these old pictures, right? Middle sis was a fashion icon in all eras--just like you. *)
