Prom Makes Me Feel Weepy

My baby is off to her Junior Prom tonight. Any moment, I will receive a call letting me know that she and her friends are on their way to Casa de Envy for the After-Prom Party. We hosted the party last year, but I don't recall feeling so weepy. Perhaps it's because the boys in the group are all graduating, and I will miss them terribly. Perhaps it's because I was looking through old photos, and came across this one from Middle Sis' wedding...

My Snow White was still a little girl when this photo was taken. Tonight, I looked through the lens of my camera and saw a beautiful young woman. I burst into tears on the way home.

In other (less weepy) news, some interesting things occurred this week:

-FYI: I will conduct a random drawing for the Pay It Forward contest the first part of next week. The two winners will be notified on their sites. Can't wait to see who it is!!!

-I saw the first lightning bug of the season.

-I flossed a crown right off of my back molar Wednesday night. My dentist was on vacation all week. It's not easy to chew on a nub. Am I being punished for flossing?

-Yesterday, I went to Mathews to meet with Chesapeake Bay Woman. We were hanging out on the beach and drinking wine ironing out the kinks for Blog Fest, and I got the full tour. I came home with a piece of driftwood, and a bag full of sea glass. Don't hate. There are some wonderful surprises in store for all attendees!

-There was a huge turtle in my driveway Thursday. I got out and tried to take his picture. Unfortunately, he hid in the honeysuckle and I couldn't get a clear shot. Perhaps he's a bit camera shy.

-Cool Breeze spent six hours putting pool furniture together today. I didn't hear him curse once. Can you say "brownie points"??

-Work has been VERY busy we are obsessed with watching the baby groundhogs and baby sandpipers that now reside in the field out front, and I have not had much time to devote to blogging. If I have not left comments on your site, it is not because I don't love you. It's simply that there are not enough hours in the day.

-I've been to 20 torture sessions yoga/pilates classes in the past four weeks. I'm taking an hour a day for myself, and I do not feel the least bit guilty. In fact, I'm feeling better than I have in months!

So. What have YOU been up to this week? I've missed you!

Oh my, from what I've seen in pictures, you and your sister look like twins.

I can't wait to see prom pictures of Snow White. Shes a beautiful young lady.

I booked my flight for the VA Blogfest, and can't wait to meet everyone.

lovely photo of snow white!

I didn't have prom - but my daughter attended a good friends Bat Mitzvah, which meant dressing to the 9's (they were beautiful!). I don't really like this growing up thing!

You sound like you've had a fab weekend and that's what summer is all about!!

What a sweet post about you daughter........where does the time go BHE? Seems like yesterday we were out playing together and now all four are grown and on their own. I long for them every single day.
Okay, I'm way jealous of the blogfest thing. Would you all have a shot of tequila for me?

My older daughter is only a sophomore and didn't even go to a prom, but I've been weepy anyway the past couple of weeks. All these young people I knew as babies are graduating or just - you know - so grown up. It's starting to hit me that she will be off to college in a couple of years. And a couple of years isn't that long! Glad you like pilates... it seriously changed my life a few years ago.

I almost burst into tears myself reading about your beautiful girl.

Thanks for driving out here on Friday. July is going to be awesome.

Hope the party went well last night.

Oh, and just last night my mother was herding us to a spot in the yard so we could see her baby ground hogs. They're amazing.

Beautiful picture! Being a momma can be so hard.

Sounds like you had a really busy week. I know when I have weeks like that I have to give up something and it is usually blogging.

Love the picture....you are both so pretty. I would be weepy also!!
I thought I was the only one who was punished for flossing, was obsessed with seeing 'wildlife' in my yard (yes, turtles are wild) and I also love collecting driftwood and sea glass!!!!

Oh, yes...The weeps. Seeing our little girls all grown up is cause for tears.

I soo miss yoga. We had the best instructor before we moved. I'm going to have to start getting my mat out and doing some stretching on my own. I know I will feel better.

Have a great week!

As far as Snow White making you feel weepy goes, MY youngest is graduating in just a few days. WAAAAAAAAH!
