The Garage Enclosure - Part Two

To read Part One, click here.

Initially, the enclosure seemed to be progressing at warp speed. Now? Not so much. You'll notice that Part One was dated March 24. It was estimated that the project would take one month. GAH!

In the meantime, all of the items that once lived in the garage and attic need to go to the dump have been crammed into the shed. I have no idea where my summer clothes are hiding, OR where I stashed the sunscreen and pool towels we will need this weekend.

My cat is getting tired of all of the commotion that has disrupted our lives for the past two months. She thinks it's ridiculous that work has to come to a halt for so many inspections: electric, gas, insulation, sheetrock, bedrock and the kitchen sink. It seems that she has developed a habit of sticking out her tongue in disgust. I can't really blame her.

We have chosen the stone that will adorn our new gas fireplace. It has some fancy name, but I like to call it "Rustic"!

This will give you an idea of how much crap we shoved into the shed what the garage used to look like.

Now, it's starting to resemble a family room.

We also have a new little porch. One day if I don't die before the enclosure is finished we may even be able to use it!!

I will have a separate laundry room which means I can get all of those darn clothes out of the bedroom floor which will also house the deep freeze.

I'll post more updates as soon as the polar ice caps melt they become available.
Any wall color suggestions would be appreciated. The adjoining hallway is painted "Herbivore", which is a sagey green, and the floor will be a dark hickory hardwood. Earth tones welcome!

OY .. I totally identify with this ... we are waiting on ConEd to approve the new gas connections/lines which have been inplace now forever ... and still no inspector! I swear not having a stove is beginning to bug me

That is going to be one awesome room!! My walls are painted called Fudgsicle or something like that. I love the color but I really think I was just craving something cold and chocolatey.

It is looking really good...and all good things just take time.
I LOVE the fireplace stone..so purty.
Do you have the color deck from your hallway paint? A color on the same level (I am a fan of cream/buttery shades) Or the same sage a shade darker would also be nice.
So happy for you....and I can't wait to see your laundry room. Yeah, I am like that.

I know it's driving you crazy but it's going to be worth the wait. I have color phobia so the only color I can suggest is white.

It is coming together nicely. I can not wait to see it in person some time in the future!!!

A warm latte would work well and give you a mid range.

I know it is driving you crazy right now, but it will be totally worth it.

I'm jealous of your deep freezer. Seriously.

The new space is going to be well worth all the drama and inconvenience. Plus, it gives me a place to crash when I come over this summer to use your pool.

ooooooh! Love the sagey green wall color. I'd offer up color suggestions but the only one I can say with certainty that I KNOW is Builder Beige.

Which um. Ah still got.

Beutiful! The stone is perfect...maybe pick up on the rusty color since it looks like you have plenty of windows for light.

I'm jealous of your set tub.

This is so exciting! I love that rustic fireplace.

Keep the updates coming.

Oh, if this makes you feel any better - my parents bought an old house in the country in December. It needed extensive renovations. The contractor said it should be ready by March. Um, they hope to move furniture and beds in this weekend so that relatives in town next weekend for the wedding have a place to stay.

Oh that is looking great! Can't wait to see it all finished and the fire going. Well hopefully it will be finished long before you need that fire though. LOL. I think picking up on the colors in the rock work would look good.

ooo love that stone!

What kind of hardwoods are you putting in there? Are they an engineered product? I ask because I had a disaster of an experience laying real hardwood over an old garage slab a few years ago.

Paint colors...hmmm...Im really fond of the Sherwin Williams Nomadic Desert that I have--its one of the few "beiges" that doesn't turn pink or gray in certain lights.

OK I'm not ever going to complain about the kitchen remodel again because you have actual building and inspections going on. That right there, nope, could not survive it.

Can't wait to see the finished family room!
